How much sand and gravel do I need?
For typical Chennai construction work, rule-of-thumb quantities per 1000 sqft:
- RCC roof slab (125 mm thick, M20): ~180 cft (~8 tonnes) M-sand + ~360 cft (~16 tonnes) 20 mm jelly
- Plastering (12 mm internal, both sides): ~50 cft (~2.3 tonnes) P-sand
- Block masonry (6-inch AAC, 1500 sqft wall): minimal — block fix adhesive replaces mortar
- Brick masonry (1000 sqft wall): ~30 cft (~1.4 tonnes) M-sand

Why "near me" matters for sand and gravel
Sand and aggregate are heavy and bulk — a tonne occupies roughly 0.7 m³. Transport cost from quarry to site is half the delivered price. Delivery
- Minimum order: 3 tonnes per delivery (smaller quantities by hand-loaded LCV may be possible — check on WhatsApp).
- Tipper sizes: 6-tonne (small lanes), 10-tonne (standard), 16-tonne (bulk pour days).
- Unloading: tipper dumps at point — you need a clear unloading zone with overhead clearance.
- Delivery zones: OMR, ECR, Velachery, Adyar, Sholinganallur, Pallavaram, Tambaram. Outstation by quote.
- Timing: order placed by 11 AM usually delivers same day. Slab-pour-day deliveries are scheduled the evening before.
Quality and source
All sand is screened and washed (where applicable) at the quarry before loading. We stock from approved Tamil Nadu quarries with valid TN PWD / TWAD certification. River sand availability is seasonal and regulated — when river sand is scarce, M-sand is the recommended substitute (M-sand is technically superior for most RCC applications and is what most Chennai builders use by default in 2026).
