How the steel calculator works
Add a row per diameter (6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm), enter quantity in 12m rods or metres, and the calculator applies the D² ÷ 162 formula to compute weight per metre. Multiply by quantity, sum across all rows, and you get the total kg + tonnes + live Chennai cost.

Coastal builds: choose CRS
If your site is east of OMR or anywhere on ECR, the salt-laden air rusts standard TMT at the surface within 2-3 years (worse if any rebar gets exposed during construction). Spend the extra ₹3-5/kg on Fe 550D CRS (Corrosion Resistant Steel) — ISteel and JSW make Chennai-stocked variants. Worth it on every column and beam for coastal builds.
